Visual Memory Assistant

Privacy notice

How information is handled in the app and when you contact BossMask or visit this website.

Last updated: September 11, 2026

In shortVisual Memory Assistant requires no account and does not send your personal archive to BossMask. Content is encrypted and stored locally on your device.

1. Controller and contact details

The controller is Massimo Modena, publishing Visual Memory Assistant under the developer name BossMask.

Postal contact: Via del Calicanto 3, Vacallo, Switzerland.
Privacy and support: support@bossmask.ch.

2. Information handled in the app

The app handles information you choose to enter on your device. This may include titles, notes, dates, deadlines, lists, home and vehicle information, budgets and expenses, contacts, photographs, PDFs, voice notes, optional coordinates, medication and treatment information, menstrual-cycle data, and timer settings.

Some information may be sensitive personal data, particularly health data. BossMask does not receive this content and does not create an online user profile.

Purpose

Data is used locally to organize entries, run searches, produce requested estimates, schedule reminders, show a local alert history, protect access, and create a manual backup.

Local security

Entries and attachments are encrypted in the app's private container. The key is protected by Android Keystore or Apple Keychain. Automatic system backup is disabled.

3. Device permissions and features

  • Camera: opens only after your command. Photos saved by the app are not automatically added to the gallery.
  • Microphone and speech recognition: used when you start dictation or recording. Dictation uses recognition available on the device and transient audio is not retained. Voice notes you choose to save are encrypted locally.
  • Location: obtained while you use the app and only after an explicit request. There is no background tracking.
  • Notifications: scheduled locally through the operating system and may display details on the lock screen according to app and device settings.
  • Biometrics or passcode: verification is performed by the operating system. The app receives only the result and does not access fingerprints, face images, or biometric templates.

You can deny or revoke permissions in phone settings. Features unrelated to that permission continue to work.

4. Backup, sharing, and external services

A backup is created only on request, encrypted with a password BossMask does not know, and saved to the destination you select through the operating system. It cannot be recovered without the password.

When you share a list, entry, photograph, or coordinates, the system share sheet lets you choose the app and recipient. A copy handed to an external service is no longer protected by the Visual Memory Assistant encrypted container and is subject to that provider's notice.

Opening coordinates in Maps or starting calls, SMS, WhatsApp, or email requires a user action. The app does not automatically send messages or select recipients.

Text and code recognition

Recognition starts only on request and operates locally. Temporary results are not saved until you select and confirm them. Results can contain errors and must be checked.

Store purchases

Visual Memory Assistant offers an auto-renewable subscription purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play. The store processes payment data under its own privacy notice. The app receives purchase status, product, dates, and technical transaction identifiers needed to recognize access rights. BossMask does not receive full card details.

5. Retention, deletion, and data loss

Content remains on the device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Deleting an entry also removes linked attachments and reminders. Encrypted notification history is removed automatically after 30 days and is not included in the backup.

BossMask cannot remotely access, correct, or delete data stored only on the device. Without a valid backup, uninstalling the app or losing, resetting, or damaging the phone may make the archive permanently inaccessible.

6. This website and support requests

bossmask.ch is a static website. It uses no accounts, forms, advertising, profiling tools, or analytics, and sets no marketing cookies. The hosting provider may process IP address, date, time, requested page, and technical information to deliver and secure the service.

If you email us, we handle your address, message, and technical details you choose to provide to respond, prevent abuse, and document support. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the request and meet legal obligations. Do not send passwords, backups, or unnecessary personal data.

7. Legal grounds, rights, and changes

Where applicable, support processing is necessary to provide the requested service or is based on the legitimate interest in managing support, security, and disputes. Store purchases are handled to perform the contract. Local content is processed by the app to perform the functions you request.

You may request information about data BossMask has actually received, ask for correction or deletion, and object to or restrict processing where the law provides. For data stored only in the app, you exercise control directly by viewing, changing, or deleting it on the device.

Contact support@bossmask.ch. You may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, where applicable, the authority in your country.

This notice will be updated when features, handled data, or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the current version.
